South part of city receives heavy rainfall, monsoon active
Kolkata, Aug 20 (UNI) The southern part of the city today experienced very heavy rains while the north received a minimal shower.
Alipore Met deputy director L R Meena said the rains was due to the low pressure.
''There was a well marked low pressure over the gangetic West Bengal, however, currently it is lying over Chattisgarh,'' Mr Meena said.
The Southern part, including Alipore, Behala and Bhowanipore areas, received more than 80 mm of rains in three hours.
The weathermen have forecast a clear sky in the evening.
''The low pressure has moved from here and hence there might be less rains during the night,'' Mr Meena said adding that monsoon was very active and there might be heavy rains tomorrow also.
