New Delhi, Aug 20: The Supreme Court today directed CBI to place on record within four weeks the copy of the Eldorado court in Argentina order rejecting the CBI application seeking extradition of Ottavio Quattrocchi, the main suspect in Bofors payoff scandal case.

A bench comprising Chief Justice K G Balakrishnan and Justices P K Thakkar and R V Raveendran adjourned the hearing of the application filed by an advocate Ajay Kumar Aggarwal seeking directions to the CBI and the Centre to place the entire record pertaining to the extradition of Italian fugitive who is wanted by the CBI for last 11 years for being tried in India, for receiving kickbacks in Rs 64 crore scandal which had led to the ouster of Rajiv Gandhi govt in 1989.

CBI withdrew its appeal before the Argentinian Supreme Court and decided not to file any appeal following which Quattrocchi was released by Argentinian authorities and reached Milan as a free man.

Quattrocchi was arrested by Argentina authorities on February 8 this year and CBI came to know of it only on February 23 and later an application for extradition of Quattrocchi, a family friend of Congress president Sonia Gandhi, was filed by CBI.
