Rs 42,088 cr worth Telecom FDI proposals approved till May

New Delhi, Aug 20 (UNI) As many as 792 foreign direct investment (FDI) proposals worth Rs 42,088 crore were approved in the telecom sector from August 1991 to May 2007, the Lok Sabha was informed today.

Delhi accounted for 202 proposals worth Rs 16,475 crore, followed by Maharashtra (132, Rs 1,741 crore), Tamil Nadu (58, Rs 1,393 crore) and Karnataka (40, Rs 768 crore), Minister of State for Communications and Information Technology Shakeel Ahmad said in a written reply.

X X X HEALTH MELA: MTNL, in the capacity of one of the sponsors, paid Rs 10 lakh in 2006 to Heart Care Foundation, Delhi, for organising the Perfect Health Mela, the Minister said.
