Punjab Govt to spent Rs1380 Cr on socio-economic development of SCs

Chandigarh, Aug 20 (UNI) The Punjab Government will spend Rs 1380 crore for socio-economic development of scheduled castes during 2007-08 in the state.

This was disclosed by Minister of Welfare for Scheduled Castes Gulzar Singh Ranike while presiding over a high level meeting to review the implementation of Scheduled Castes Sub Plan (SCSP) as committed by SAD-BJP alliance in the election manifesto.

He instructed the concerned officers to implement the Maharashtra model of SCSP and complete the work in stipulated time. He said the state Chief Secretary had already issued instructions to all administrative secretaries to ensure that funds under this SCSP scheme, which were non divertible, were spent on the development of scheduled castes.

The Minister said that strict action would be taken against those officials who were responsible for any delay in implementation of the scheme.
