Peripherals major WeP takes up major expansion
Bangalore, Aug 20 (UNI) WeP Peripherals Ltd, India's one of the largest employee-owned companies, has taken up major expansion of its two facilities in Himachal Pradesh and Karnataka to upgrade manufacturing capacity.
WeP one of the top names in IT peripherals products, produces impact printers, high speed printers and line matrix printers, apart from UPS, billing solutions, networking products and laser printers.
The seven year old city-based company has also diversified into providing one stop information management and information protection solutions.
Speaking to UNI after signing an MoU with Norway-based Tandberg Data to become its master distributor of RDX QuikStor removable storage products, WeP Managing Director and CEO Ram N Agarwal said the company will complete adding 60,000 sq ft of additional space at a cost of Rs 15 crore in its Nalagarh facility in HP in a month's time to scale up its production of printers, print heads and UPS.
"In our Mysore facility, we are adding 40,000 sq ft more at a cost of Rs 10 Crore within next six months. We are funding the expansion through internal accruals and there was no plan to go public yet," Mr Agarwal, who was one of the founding members of the Wipro's Pheriperals System Division before launching WeP, said.
WeP posted a revenue of Rs 370 crore last year, which included a PAT of Rs three crore. Its two facilities at present had a capacity to produce 6.5 lakh products and 10 lakh consumable per annum.
The company has created country's largest IT product sales infrastructure of 10,000 active retail outlets and supports more than 2000 large business consumers directly.
