New Delhi, Aug 20 (UNI) The Parliament Library here will have a "Children's Corner," the second of its kind in the world.

Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee will inaugurate the corner here tomorrow evening to inculcate reading habits among children.

The corner will have a unique distinction of being the second such one in the world. A similar arrangement already exists only in the National Diet Library of Japan.

Children in the 8-17 age group will be provided an opportunity to access to a wide variety of books, magazines, electronic materials and other documents available in the Parliament Library.

The corner comprises of about 2000 books, specially designed racks for display of magazines and newspapers, e-literature in the form of CDs/DVDs, and a multimedia centre equipped with computers having internet facility.

Children would be encouraged to use computer as an educational tool and would have access to multimedia educational programes and internet free of cost.

A Lok Sabha Spokesman said special emphasis was being given to ensure that children of the marginalised sections of the society, who did not have access to a good and resourceful library, could avail the facility at the Children's Corner.
