NMA urges govt to adopt Draft on Women Policy

Kohima, Aug 20: The Naga Mothers' Association(NMA) has urged the state government to adopt the Draft on Nagaland State Women Empowerment Policy, 2006.

NMA President Khesheli Chishi in a release here today said that he met at Kohima recently and discussed the non-adoption of the Draft Women Policy among the various issues and expressed concern over its non-adoption, despite repeated reminders and requests.

Reportedly all requests had been turned down by the State Cabinet on a couple of occasions.

The meeting viewed with all seriousness the state's standpoint in the non-adoption of the Draft even after a full-fledged Nagaland Women Commission had been constituted, the release said.

The NMA hoped a positive response from the Government would help restore the trust and confidence of the women of Nagaland, which had begun to wane in the recent past.
