MSEDC employees to strike work from tomorrow

Mumbai, Aug 20 (UNI) Ten out of 27 active unions in three companies of erstwhile Maharashtra State Electricity Board (MSEB) will go on a three-day token strike from tomorrow midnight.

However, Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company (MSEDC) managing director A B Pandey, Maharashtra State Electricity Transmission Company managing director S Ratho told reporters here that they are urging all the unions not to go on strike and to hold the 10 crore people for ransome.

The ten unions will go on strike to press for their demands of opposing the franchisee system and the implementation of pension scheme.

Mr Pandey said while the franchisee system is the national policy, while the unions could not give any plan of pension in which there would not be any burden on the companies, he added.

The MDs also said that so far their attempts to hold negotiations failed as the union leaders did not turn up.

''Still we are hopeful that the unions would not go on strike,'' they added.

Nearly 20-25,000 workers of the three comapnies out of total staff of 95,000 are expected to join the strike.
