Monsoon weak over South Interior Karnataka

Bangalore, Aug 20 (UNI) Following is a Summary of observations recorded by the weather office here at 0830 hrs today.

Monsoon was weak over South Interior Karnataka.

Rainfall occurred at most places over Coastal Karnataka and at isolated places over Interior Karnataka.

Chief rainfall amounts (cm): Bhatkal, Honavar 5 each; Karkala, Kollur, Ankola 4 each; Siddapura (Udupi dt), Shirali, Kumta 3 each; Mangalore, Kota, Udupi, Karwar, Kiravatti, Hanumasagar, Aurad, Afzalpur, Hospet 2 each; Mudibidre, Panambur, Mangalore AP, Belthangadi, Dharmasthala, Subramanya, Kundapur, Joida, Khanapur, Hukkeri, Jeewargi, Manvi, Agumbe, Kottigehara, Sakleshpura, Arsikere, Kampli 1 each.

Forecast valid until Wednesday morning: Rain/thundershowers likely to occur at most places over Coastal Karnataka and at a few places over Interior Karnataka.

Farmers Weather Bulletin:Moderate to rather heavy rain likely to occur at most places over Dakshina Kannada, Udupi&Uttara Kannada districts. Light to moderate rain likely to occur at a few places over all the districts of Interior Karnataka.

Heavy rainfall warning: Heavy rain may occur at isolated places over Coastal Karnataka during next 48 hours.

Fisheries warning: Strong onshore winds from westerly direction speed occasionally reaching forty five to fifty five kmph likely along off Karnataka coast during next 24 hours.

Local forecast:Generally cloudy with a spell of rain/shower.
