MNF dishonours Tricolour: Cong

Aizawl, Aug 20 (UNI) Mizoram Pradesh Youth Congress Committee(MPYCC) has slammed the Mizo National Front government for dishonouring the National Flag.

The National Flag which was unfurled by Chief Minister Zoramthanga on the India Independence Day at the Assam Rifles Ground here was not removed till 9:00 am on August 16.

Whereas the Flag Code states that the National Flag shall be removed before sunset, the Flag that Chief Minister Zoramthanga unfurled on the Independence Day remained there throughout the night.

This is a serious violation of the India Flag Code and should not go unpunished, said a statement of the youth congress today.

Eyewitnesses said the Flag was removed only after 9:30 am on August 16. The Youth Congress furthered alleged that the MNF had earlier violated the Constitution Article 51(A) and Fundamental Duties by refusing to vote in the Presidential Elections.
