Leaked pipeline causes death of 12 villagers
Jabalpur, Aug 20 (UNI) A leaked drinking water pipeline caused an epidemic-like situation leading to death of at least 12 people, mostly children, in Barela town in Jabalpur district, police said today.
More than 50 people were afflicted with gastro-enteritis after consumption of polluted water in Barela town panchayat area, 20 km from here, District Collector Sanjay Dube said after visiting the area yesterday.
A medical team of the district hospital also visited the town after it was found that quacks were treating the villagers.
Police also registered cases against three such quacks- N Solekia, Dr Chandra Bengali and Dr C P Upadhyaya- under section 304 A of IPC.
