JMM, AJSU and Left to support tomorrow's J'khand bandh

Ranchi, Aug 20 (UNI) Various tribal outfits, student organisations and political parties have extended their support to tommorrow's Jharkhand Janadhikar Manch (JJM) sponsored statewide bandh to protest Delimitation Commission's(DC) recommendation of reducing SC/ST Assembly and Lok Sabha seats of the state.

The Parha Mahasamiti, Adivasi Jan Parishad, the Jharkhand Mukti Morch (JMM), All Jharkhand Students Union, Communist Party of India and Communist Party of India (Marxist) had extended their support to the agitation.

CPI(M) state secretary J S Mazumdar said reducing the SC/ST seats was a matter of great concern and the Union government should take up the matter seriously.

Advocating the need for increasing the Assembly seats, AJSU leader Praveen Prabhkar said seats should be enhanced to 150.

JJM's central committee president Jagdish Lohra said they had also appealed to all chambers of commerce, educational institutions and other organisations to cooperate with them.

Mr Lohra added that the move of reducing reserved seats was an attack on fundamental rights of tribals and it would not be tolerated.

Mr Lohra said they would register their protest and pressurise the state government to do the needful so that reserved seats were not reduced.

Meanwhile, the police said security arrangements would be strengthened in view of the agitation.
