J&K Assembly adjourns after obituary references
Srinagar, Aug 20 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly adjourned for the day today after paying obituary references to sitting member G M Jan and former legislator Ali Mohammad Mir, who died during the current session.
The Lower House also paid obituary reference to former Assembly secretary Wasim Shah.
This was for the second time during the present session that the House paid obituary references to the departed leaders.
The current session of the Lower House had commenced here on July 19 and after two days the Assembly was adjourned for a month to meet again today.
Speaker Tara Chand, Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, Leader of the Opposition Abdul Rahim Rather, M A Bukhari, Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami, Ajay Sadhotra, Balwant Singh Mankotia, Ashwani Kumar Sharma, Jugal Kishore, Ghulam Hassan Khan, Abdul Aziz Zargar and Mangat Ram Sharma paid glowing tributes to the deceased.
The House also observed a two-minute silence in memory of the deceased. The speaker later adjourned the Assembly for the day.
