New Delhi, Aug 20 (UNI) The Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) today urged Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to present to Parliament, the report of Justice Ranganathan Mishra Coimmission on Religious and Linguistic Minorities.

IUML President G M Banatwala said, in a telegram to Dr Singh, that establishment of the commission and welfare measures, including reservation in education and employment for minorities, were part of the Common Minimum Programme of the ruling UPA coalition.

He said the Ranaganathan Commission, which submitted its report to the Prime Minister on May 22 this year, had recommended 15 per cent reservation for minorities in jobs, education and government schemes.

Pointing out that the commission had recommended 10 per cent reservation exclusively for the Muslims, Mr Banatwala said this should be implemented without further delay.

In this context, he said the 10 per cent recommended by the commission was commensurate with 73 per cent share of Muslims in the total minority population at the national level.
