Include all districts under BRGF: Dabi

Itanagar, Aug 20: Panchayati Raj Minister of the state Tako Dabi has urged the Centre to include all districts of the state under the Backward Region Grant Fund (BRGF).

Addressing the third meeting of Panchayati Raj ministers held at Thiruvananthapuram on August 17 and 18 last under the chairmanship of Union Panchayati Raj Minister Mani Shankar Aiyar, Mr Dabi also urged the minister for release of grants for infrastructure development and implementation of e-governance, informed official sources here today.

Mr Dabi also highlighted the achievement attained in the Panchayati Raj system in the state, including constitution of district planning committees, activity mapping in respect of six departments, notification of state rural business hub council, identification of champion products and constitution of state women core committee for panchayat mahila shakti abhiyan, training and capacity building.

Mr Aiyar while reviewing the growth of panchayats in various states of the country appreciated the efforts of the Arunachal Pradesh government in developing the PR system in the last few months and said that a need was felt to translate the accelerated growth into inclusive growth.

The minister also disclosed that Central allocation for all rural development and related schemes was expected to increase to a record of one lakh crore in the next five years, sources added.
