Haryana announces new schemes on Rajiv's B'anniversary

Chandigarh, Aug 20 (UNI) Haryana today announced a number of programmes on the occasion of Rajiv Gandhi Akshay Urja Diwas, being observed on the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi.

These schemes included rebate on domestic electricity bills to users of Solar Water Heaters and replacement of conventional bulbs and tubelights with CFL bulbs and T-5 tubelights in Government buildings so as to conserve energy.

In a state-level function organised at Panchkula near here today, Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda announced the decision of the state Government to replace by November 1 the conventional bulbs and tubelights with CFL bulbs and T-5 tubelights in its those buildings in which maximum power was consumed for lighting purposes.

The buildings in which conventional bulbs and tubelights would be replaced with CFL bulbs and T-5 tubelights included Haryana Civil Secretariat and New Scretariat in Chandigarh, all Government buildings in Panchkula, all Mini Secretariats in the state, all buildings of Haryana Urban Development Authority and Public Works Department and Circuit Houses as well as Rest Houses.

Similarly, in other government buildings and those of boards and corporations, power saving tubelights would be installed by January 1.

The Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) announced its decision to provide rebate on domestic electricity bills at the rate of Rs 100, Rs 200 and Rs 300 per month to the users of Solar Water Heaters of capacity of 100 LPD, 200 LPD and 300 LPD respectively.

The rebate would be available with effect from the date of installation of solar water heater and would be available for three years.

With a view to popularise Solar Water Heating System, the Government made the use of solar water heaters mandatory for all industries, all hospitals/nursing homes, hotels or motels, halls for celebrations, jails, barracks, canteens, group housing societies, educational institutes, tourist complexes and residential houses of more than 500 sq yards in Housing Board and HUDA's sectors.
