Construct dam across Rabi river tributary: Lal Singh

New Delhi, Aug 20 (UNI) Mr Lal Singh (Cong) today demanded in the Lok Sabha construction of a dam across the Rabi river tributary which is not covered under the Indus water treaty with Pakistan.

Raising the issue during zero hour, Mr Singh said Jammu and Kashmir did not have any river irrigation or hydel power project as the state government was not in a position even to carry out detailed project reports (DPRs).

The Centre should come forward to help the state and prepare DPRs for the construction of dams and setting up hydel power projects, he said.
