CM launches 'Green India' tree plantation programme

Hyderabad, Aug 20 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today launched 'Green India' tree plantation programme to commemorate 63rd birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi.

The programme was organised by the National Students Union of India (NSUI), the students wing of Congress.

Speaking on the occasion here, Dr Reddy appealed to NSUI activists to follow the footsteps of Rajiv Gandhi and play an important role in nation building. He wanted the students to involve in various social service activities and work against social evils like ragging and child labour.

NSUI State President Vamshi Chand Reddy said the Green India programme was implemented in each and every district in the state.
