Chahal get bail in attempt to murder and land grab case

Chandigarh, Aug 20 (UNI) Punjab and Haryana High Court here has allowed the regular bail prayer of Bharat Inder Singh Chahal, media advisor to former Punjab chief minister Amarinder Singh, in connection with the case of alleged land grabbing in Daad village of Ludhiana and attempt to murder.

The similar bail plea by Jagdish Pal Singh Grewal, who is the father-in-law of Chahal's son and two others, was also accepted.

Justice Surya Kant said in view of the bail granted, Chahal's prayer for shifting him to Ambala jail from Patiala jail where he is currently lodged, was rendered infructuous.

The bail was granted in the case registered against him on June 10 at Ludhiana.

However, Chahal's counsel told news persons that he would move a fresh application for shifting him as the petitioner continued to be in judicial cutsody in connection with some other cases.
