AP CM assures 10 lakh jobs to youths

Hyderabad, Aug 20 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today assured the youth to create ten lakh jobs for them this year by providing necessary training.

Speaking after interacting with youth trained and placed in suitable jobs by the Employment Guarantee and Marketing Mission, the Chief Minister said unemployment and underemployment were the biggest curse.

Stating that the Congress government was relentlessly striving to improve human resources, he said nearly 1,00,000 jobs would be created every month through various departments by imparting soft skills like spoken english to rural youth for absorption by public and private sector companies in various sectors, including banking services.

The Chief Minister announced that transit homes would be set up shortly for the rural youth finding placements in cities and towns.

The government had allocated Rs 120 crore in this year's budget for training youth through the District Rural Development Agency understanding that empowered youth would be an asset for society.

Dr Reddy sought an explanation from the official concerned on the incident in Tirupati, where over 40,000 youth had turned up for 10,000 jobs from various companies. Issuance of appointment orders were not normally done on the spot, he said.

Rural Development Minister G Chinna Reddy said bank linkages to the tune of Rs 15,000 crore would be ensured for women Self-Help Groups (SHGs) in the state for the next two-years.

As many as 40,000 youth were trained and provided placement in leading companies, he added.
