A militant among 2 killed, 2 ultras arrested, arms recovered in J&K

Srinagar, Aug 20 (UNI) A militant was among two people killed while security forces arrested two ultras and recovered huge cache of arms and ammunition in Jammu and Kashmir overnight, an official spokesman said.

He said militants shot at and critically wounded one Zahoor Ahmad Mir at Bongam in Shopian district last night. He was admitted to hospital where he died this morning.

Security forces killed a militant in an encounter in south Kashmir district of Anantnag last night, he said adding one AK rifle and other arms and ammunition were recovered from the slain militant.

Security forces and police arrested two militants in separate search operations at Redwani in Kulgam and Dudu in Udhampur district alongwith a AK rifle, one pistol, two magazines, one 303 rifle and 100 rounds of ammunition.

A hideout was busted at Chak-e-Dara, Harwan and a large cache of arms and ammunition, including one AK rifle, two magazines, one pistol, half a kg explosive, one detonator and one Remote Control Device (RCD). However, no one was arrested.
