Woman kills self, toddler over family dispute

Azamgarh, Aug 19 (UNI) Driven by prolonged family tension, a woman committed suicide along with her two-year-old daughter in Phoolpur area of the district today.

After dousing herself and her daughter Kiran with kerosene, Sunita Devi, 23, set themselves afire at Chagava village.

On hearing the shrieks, people rushed to the spot, but the duo had already succumbed.

Police said Sunita, who was married to Vijay Chaturvedi for over three years, had irreconcilable differences with her spouse.

The duo used to quarrel regularly, which might have forced her to take the extreme step.

Investigations were underway.
