Soz for introducing Kashmiri literary treasure to younger generation

Srinagar, Aug 19 (UNI) Union Minister of Water Resources, Prof Saif- ud-din Soz has stressed the need for introducing the multi-faceted literary treasure of Kashmiri language to the younger generation.

Prof Soz was speaking at a literary function in Baramullah today where he unveiled the inscription laid by State Cultural Academy on the grave of noted Kashmiri devotional poet Abdul Gaffar Taib.

He said Taib was a poet of a very high stature and could be compared with great Maulana Jami in the art of ''Naatgoi''.

He said he had collected the poetry of this great poet and compiled it in a book which would be shortly released at a function here.

Mr Soz elated that there was still much scope in presenting research papers on various peculiarities of the poet in the said function, and hoped for its continuation for furture also.

Prof Soz lauded Cultural Academy for its efforts to bring the forgotten and inaccessible literary treasure before the reading public and wished that the Academy would not only continue but redouble its efforts in this endeavour.

Prof Soz announced release of funds from his local area development fund for development of the park in the compound of shrine of Saint Janbaaz Wali.

Later Union Minister visited Baramullah Degree College and announced release of rupees ten lakh from Member Parliament Local Area Development Fund for establishment of a conference hall in the college.
