Six more nabbed for looting jewellery shop in Sangli Dist
Sangli, Maharashtra, Aug 19 (UNI) Police today arrested six more dacoits for allegedly robbing a jewellery shop in Palus tehsil town of the district and seized about 2.5 kg of gold ornaments worth about Rs 20 lakh from them.
The six-member gang, belonging to Madhya Pradesh, has been arrested by Dhule police early this morning and ornaments worth about Rs 20 lakh were seized from them, said Sangli local Crime Branch sleuths.
A 15-member armed gang had looted the jewellery shop, located at Tasgaon-Karad road, at around 2030 hours on Friday night and decamped with gold ornaments worth about Rs 20 lakh after beating two persons, including the shop owner, sources said.
Immediately after the incident, police swung into action and arrested two suspects near Karad yesterday, sources said, adding, with today's arrest, the total number of the arrested accused has gone up to eight.
