Sindhi film launched after 5 years
Mumbai, Aug 19: After the successful resurgence of Bhojpuri potboilers, Denmark based businessman, M Harwani has come up with a Sindhi commercial film 'Pyar Kare Dis: Feel the Power of Love', the first in a span of five years.
Launched last evening, the film Pyar Kare Dis, boasts of being a family entertainer and revolves around the journey of a Non Resident Indian girl to her country of birth and how she finds the love of her life.
''With only 20 films released in Sindhi language in the last 60 years of independence, I am trying to revive and encourage the spirit of Sindhi cinema, particularly the dialect through my maiden Sindhi film as a producer,'' Harwani told the sources.
In spite of the fact that the Hindi film industry has many Sindhi financers, producers and artists, they have failed to release a movie in their mother tongue, said Harwani. ''The success of Pyar Kare Dis would change this scenario,'' he added.
Recalling the black and white era, the producer observed that Sindhi films of earliar times were made well with limited resources and were also received by the community because of good story lines. But in the recent past, films made in Sindhi were very poor in content and direction.
On the issue of commercial viability of a Sindhi film, a confident Harwani asserted that there are five crore Sindhis spread across the world, hence there is ample scope for a Sindhi film to be a profitable venture''. If Bhojpuri films can be profitable with their newfound status, then I do believe Sindhi films can also be profitable'', he added.
Directed by Kamal D Nathani, the film has presence of bollywood actors Rajat Bedi, Preeti Jangiani and a host of television actors.
Pyar Kare Dis is expected to hit screens on September 14.
