PPCB grants NOC to 52 major projects,

Chandigarh, Aug 19 (UNI) The Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB) has given its nod to 52 major projects and recommended for change of land use (CLU) to residential, commercial and industrial projects in 32 cases.

Among the main projects, which were issued NOCs, yesterday, are Sushant City, Bathinda, JTPL Township, Kharar, GBN Apartments, Kharar, Unitech Ltd., Mohali, Crystal Enclave, Jalandhar. Parkwood Developers, Kharar, Skylark Apartments, Kharar and Ganpati Township, Bathinda, a spokesman of the PPCB said here today.

The process of issuing No Objection Certificates (NOCs) to the projects having a capital cost of nearly Rs 2700 crore, had been stalled for some months as the Punjab and Haryana High Court has directed the State Government to formulate a concrete policy as siting guidelines for approving such projects, he said.

As a result, the investors were facing problems and the developmental activities had been adversely affected.

As the siting criteria had been notified by the State Government on August 7, the PPCB decided to issue NOCs to all those projects which were not affected by the orders of the High Court and were located beyond 100 metre from any polluting, hazardous and maximum accident hazardous industrial unit.

Similarly, the recommendations for CLU for such projects were also being processed. All these cases have been processed by the Punjab Pollution Control Board in record time, the spokesman said..

The other pending cases would also be decided after the approval of new siting policy by the High Court, he said.
