Kodagu was inseparable from Karnataka: Kumaraswamy
Madikeri, Karnataka, Aug 19 (UNI) Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy today said that Kodagu is inseparable part of Karnataka and the ruling JD (S) and BJP coalition government will fulfill the demands and will not allow thinking about separate Kodagu State.
He said that the "present coalition government has responded to the pulse of Kodagu people. We have withdrawn the controversial Jamma Bane circulars issued by the revenue department. Shortly we withdraw the forest department controversial circular to safeguard the interest of Kodagu people." The Chief Minister was speaking to newsmen after launching various developmental project taken up at a cost of Rs 231 Crores in Kodagu district.
Mr Kumaraswamy assured that he will visit Kodagu again during September and stay in villages.
Referring to the elephant menace, he disclosed that a meeting of all the Western Ghat region representatives would be convened and the problem would be sorted out. The Sainik school project is already started at Kudige at the sanctioned amount of Rs 6.5 crores.
Kodagu will get the needed on priority basis, he added.
Minister for PWD and Power H D Revanna who was also present, said that Kodagu-Sampaje Highway would be developed and the works at an estimated cost of Rs 104 Crore would be taken up soon. Besides, Rs 85 Crore would be released for Virajpet-Makutta-Siddapur and Konanur road improvements. Rs 54 Crore was sanctioned for Kodagu Rural Electrification and the line would be upgraded from 33 Kv to 66 Kv between Kushalnagar and Madikeri.
