JAKFED officials under vigilance in J K

Srinagar, Aug 19 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Vigilance Organisation (VO) has registered a case against three officials of the J&K Marketing Cooperative Federation (JAKFED) for fraudulent drawl and misappropriation of funds worth over Rs 11 lakhs.

A spokesman of the VO said ''Allegation of misappropriation of funds were received against the officials, B K Bakshi, Manager Agriculture Section, J D Dar, Chief Accountant Agriculture Section, and Bhushan Kumar, the then Dispatcher National Fertiliser Limited Store Bishnah, and others by the organisation.

The VO conducted verification into the allegation of misappropriation of freight charges, for transportation of fertiliser (urea) during the period April to July 1998, by the officials of JAKFED.

They were found to be involved in the fraudulent drawl and misappropriation of JAKFED funds worth over Rs 11 lakhs, drawn illegally against freight charges between April to July 1998.

The verification revealed that Bakshi, Dar, Bhushan Kumar and others entered into a criminal conspiracy and manipulated the records by showing the amount as incurred for transporting the fertiliser (urea) to various cooperative Marketing Societies.

It was found that only 11 truck loads of urea was transported to the Kashmir valley, involving expenditure of Rs one lakh only whereas an amount of Rs 10,02,583 was drawn fraudulently.
