Indian Bank plans novel services as it turns 100 today

Chennai, Aug 19 (UNI) To serve the comman man, the Indian Bank has planned to come out with a bouquet of innovative services on the occasion of completion of 100 years of service today.

Identifying itself as ''Common Man's Bank'', the Indian Bank had introduced many innovative products like 'Ind Aishwarya', 'Smart Card', 'Ind Bank Doorstep Banking' and 'Global Debit Master Card' to suit the requirements of various segments of its customer during the centenary year.

Talking to UNI here, Indian Bank Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) M S Sundara Rajan said ''Our major initiative during the coming years is to bring those 60 per cent people, who are out of the banking ambit, to our network.'' Mr Rajan said ''to achieve this target, we have decided to give thrust to technology upgradation, joint ventures with private players, focus on rural banking and core banking solutions.'' ''For the first time in the country, our bank will launch a special package for carpenters, plumbers, electricians and automobile mechanics for skill upgradation,'' he said, adding '' we have already entered into a tie up with German-based Bosch company for giving upgraded tools to these people''.
