Indian Bank celebrates centenary year
Chennai, Aug 19 (UNI) The nationalised Indian Bank celebrated 100 years of its service to the nation at a grand function presided over by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi and Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram here today.
Speaking on the occasion Mr Karunanidhi called upon the Bank to lay special stress on banking services in the rural areas.
A special cover to mark the 100 years of the Bank was released by Principal Chief Post Master General (Tamil Nadu Circle) Ms Indira Krishna Kumar.
A book titled 'Charting the Future' on the history of the Bank was also released.
The Bank also donated an ambulance to the Madras ENT Research Foundation to mark the centenary of its inception.
