IMFL being smuggled to Rajasthan impounded in Haryana

Ambala, Aug 19 (UNI) Indian Made Foreign Liqour (IMFL) worth lakhs of rupees, being smuggled from Chandigarh to Bundi in Rajasthan in a truck, was seized here this morning, police said.

The CID, on secret information, had set up a check barrier on a bridge at around 0530 hrs. As the truck approached near the spot, it was intercepted by the CID staff, led by Inspector Rajesh Kumar.

Though the truck looked empty on the upper side, minute inspection revealed that the contraband was hidden in a cabin made under the lower portion.

When it was uncovered, 200 cases of various known brands of IMFL were found. The IMFL and the truck was impounded by the police.

The police also detained driver Mohammed Ali and cleaner Vikram Khan and informed the Excise department for taking further action for recovery of tax.
