Hockey tournament sub junior under-14

Chandigarh, Aug 19 (UNI) The Organising Committee of the Sixth S N Vohra Sub-Junior Under-14 Hockey Tournament scratched the Chandigarh Administration-run Chandigarh Hockey Academy today.

In a press release issued by the organising secretary Anil Vohra eight players of the Chandigarh Hockey Academy were 'found medically overaged by a panel of doctors." The CHA players refused to take the field and choose to withdraw from the tournament. Subsequently the tournament committee scratched the CHA team.

Meanwhile scoring one goal in each half, Mehta Gurkul Hockey Academy, Doraha defeated DAV Senior Secondary School Academy, Sector 8 by 2-0. Harpreet Singh scored both goals, first through penalty corner conversion in the eighth minute and the second in the 32nd minute by converting a penalty stroke.

Tomorrow's fixtures: Baba Uttam Singh Hockey Academy, Khadur Sahib vs Gopal Hockey Academy, Kurali (2.15 p.m.); Modern Sports School, Rohtak vs Baba Makhan Shah Lobana Academy, Baba Bakala (3.30 p.m.) and Malwa Khalsa School, Ludhiana vs Him Gold Hockey Academy, Solan ( 4.45 p.m.).
