Foundation of Spices Park laind in Chhindwara

Chhindwara, MP, Aug 19 (UNI) Union Commerce Minister Kamal Nath today said a 'Masala Park' is being developed in this district so that agriculturists could be strengthened economically.

''First agricultural revolution in this district took place in 1980 when a campaign was launched to cultivate soybean. After that, this is the second opportunity when spice park is being developed for encouraging its cultivation,'' said Mr Kamal Nath, while laying foundation of Rs 16 crore 'Masala Park' to be developed on an area of nine acres at Laas village, about 35 km from district headquarters.

He said he wished that farmers earned a minimum net profit of Rs 40,000 per acre which should be eventually increase up to Rs 70,000 crore.

Earlier, Central Spices Board (CSB) Chairman V J Kurian the proposed spices park -- being developed with the help financial cooperation from the Union Commerce and Industry department and technical assistance from the CSB -- was one of its own kind in the country.
