Former Union secretary to head JK State Finance Commission

Srinagar, Aug 19 (UNI) In a major administrative decision, former Union Secretary Mehmood-ur-Rehman has been appointed the chairman of the State Finance Commission (SFC).

An official spokesman today said "The Cabinet, which met under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, approved the appointment of Dr Rehman and three other members of the commission.'' Former commissioner-secretary Swami Raj Sharma, former Chief Engineer Roads and Buildings Sonam Dawa and Prof Nissar Ali, Professor of Economics, University of Kashmir would the members of the commission, he added.

In an attempt to give a boost to floriculture in the state, the cabinet approved bifurcation of Directorate of Floriculture for Kashmir valley and Jammu division.

Mr K K Sharma, Director Floriculture, had been posted as Director Floriculture, Jammu while the proposal for posting of Director Floriculture, Kashmir would be put up to the Cabinet separately, spokesman said.
