Find a new leader if PM unwilling to renegotiate deal: VP Singh
New Delhi, Aug 19 (UNI) Lending support to the Left on the Indo-US Nuclear deal, former Prime Minister V P Singh today said the country will have to find a ''new Prime Minister'' if the government shows unwillingness to renegotiate the agreement.
Addressing newspersons, Mr Singh said if the Prime Minister could not renegotiate, then India would have to find a new leader.
The concerns against the deal were widespread and would have to be addressed by the government, he added.
The communists were absolutely right in sticking to its present stand and the issue before them was to save the government or the nation, he said.
''If the government is unwilling to address the concerns then it is a patriotic duty to ensure that the deal does not come through,'' he remarked. The government was silent on numerous issues and the deal would make the country dependent on the US, which was not economically viable.
