Coop dept employee caught after demanding bribe

Nagpur, Aug 19 (UNI) Sleuths from the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) caught an employee of the office of the Registrar of Cooperatives for allegedly demanding a bribe of Rs 10,000 from an office-bearer of a society in Buldhana in Vidarbha region of Maharashtra.

The employee, identified as Anil Shriram Khandare (39), was caught after he demanded the bribe from Baban Bhaskar Sawale (46), President of Zilla Parishad Health Workers Cooperative Credit Society, in the presence of witnesses late last evening, police said today.

Khandare had earlier threatened to initiate action against the society, headed by Mr Sawale, for alleged discrepancies in the audit report, police said.

Mr Sawale then lodged a complaint with the ACB, which laid a trap and caught Khandare, they said, adding, he had been arrested.
