Panaji, Aug 19 (UNI) Goa Chief Minister Digambar Kamat today said his government is contemplating to introduce a scheme to benefit journalists, particularly the aged, in distress.

Speaking after inaugurating the Photo Journalists Association of Goa, coinciding with the World Photography Day, here, Mr Kamat said he would also examine a proposal to develop media faculty for training of the journalists in various streams.

Lauding the role of the photojournalists who work against all odds, the Chief Minister, however, decried what he termed ''negative photos'', which depict the high profile personalities in ''bad light''.

''Shooting pictures of politicians asleep in an important meeting in the air-conditioned environs and slip of former president Shankar Dayal Sharma at a function send wrong signals to the people abroad.

There should be some limit to this kind of journalism,'' he observed.

He later felicitated retired and acting photographers, who had richly contributed to journalism in Goa.

He also inaugurated a ''news photo exhibition'' on the precincts of the Kala Academy.

Department of Information and Publicity director Menino Peres, the association's president Nandesh Kambli and general secretary Rozario Estibeiro, among others, spoke on the occasion.
