Case registered against 60 people for vandalism in college premises

Jabalpur, Aug 19 (UNI) A case has been registered against 60 students in connection with vandalism carried out at St Aloysius College premises here yesterday, police said today.

Students of National Student Union of India (NSUI) were protesting against inviting of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) leaders by the college management for a meeting organised for student union elections.

In the meantime, an argument started between NSUI and ABVP workers and some students pelted stones breaking windowpanes and injuring a professor.

Police used mild force to control the situation. More than four dozen student leaders were arrested and later released.

College Principal Davis George also lodged a police complaint. He denied convening of a meeting regarding student union elections. He said ABVP workers had come to meet him some days back over some issue.
