BJP dubs Mayawati a 'puppet' in hands of MNCs
Varanasi, Aug 19 (UNI) Bharatiya Janata Party today said Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati has become a ''puppet'' in the hands of private companies and MNCs by introducing the policy of 'contract farming' in the state.
''By opening the farm sector for private companies and MNCs through the introduction of contract farming, the BSP government has not safeguarded the interests of agrarians already under plight, but instead ensured that small and marginal farmers are converted into labourers of capitalists on their own land,'' former UP Chief Minister Kalyan Singh told newspersons here.
Not only this, but by acquiring the farming land of cultivators for developing special economic zones and high-tech cities, the centre and state government have proved that they are totally against the farmers, he alleged.
Alleging rampant misuse of the SC Act under the Mayawati regime in UP, Mr Singh said ''During my tenure as the CM of the state, I had directed that any case under the provisions of SC Act will only be lodged after proper probe by a Circle Officer-level police officer.
But, rampant misuse of SC Act is now pervasive in the state, where SHOs and SOs at police stations are being pressurised by BSP's rank and file to frame innocents in criminal cases.'' Mr Singh further said such a development will result in hatred on in the society caste lines during the regime of a party which has catapulted to power with the social-engineering formula.
