Patiala, Aug 19 (UNI) The leader of Congress legislature party in Punjab Assembly Rajinder Kaur Bhattal today criticised the decision of boycotting the Municipal Corporation elections on August 8 in Patiala.

Addressing a news conference here today she said the party will investigate the reasons behind the pulling out of the candidates from the fray on the polling day.

Ms Bhattal said all the Congress MC candidates from Patiala will be called in Chandigarh in Punjab Congress Bhavan to ascertain who had ordered them to leave the fray.

The Party will also inquire if any Congress leader had ordered the pullout, had he taken approval from PCC president, Ms Bhattal said.

The former Chief Minster Amarinder Singh, MLA from Patiala, along with Brahm Mohindra, MLA Samana, in a joint press briefing at New Moti Bagh Palace on August 8 afternoon, had jointly announced the withdrawal of Congress candidates from polling alleging mass poll rigging by SAD workers with support of police.

Later, Local MP Preneet Kaur and Brahm Mohindra blocked the traffic near Bus stand by over two hours protesting against the alleged poll rigging.

Lamenting the law and order situation and atrocities on farmers in Punjab by ruling SAD- BJP government, Ms Bhattal said the Punjab Congress will launch morale boosting drive for Congress workers after September 15 at district levels, after which the ''recharged'' Congress workers will make head-on charge on the state Government.

Regarding new president of PCC she said that Congress president Sonia Gandhi was going abroad on August 25 and she will decide the issue only after coming back.
