233 doctors issued notices for boycotting Mah Govt's scheme

Aurangabad, Maharashtra, Aug 19 (UNI) The health department authorities in Marathwada have served show cause notices on 233 more doctors for not participating in the 'doctor aplya dari' (doctor at your doorstep) scheme of the Maharashtra government.

Earlier, the Beed zilla parishad chief executive officer B G Wagh had issued notices to 98 doctors.

The doctors are boycotting the work under 'doctor aplya dari' scheme, announced by the state government on the Independence Day, to press for their various long-standing demands.

After taking stock of the situation, the health department authorities asked the zilla parishads to take appropriate action against the doctors, who have boycotted the work for the scheme.

Accordingly, 79 doctors in Aurangabad were served show cause notices, followed by Jalna (61 doctors), Parbhani (57), and Hingoli (36), the health department sources said, adding, they have been asked to reply to the notices within two days.

Meanwhile, the doctors, including over 2000 medical officers appointed on temporary basis for one to 15 years, have resolved to go ahead with the boycott. There are 5,700 medical officers in the state.

Apart from demand to confirm their services and adequate facilities, they have also asked the administration to make transportation arrangement for them to reach their respective places of postings, said the sources in the Maharashtra Association of Medical Officers.
