18,379 bootleggers held

Lucknow, Aug 19 (UNI) In a drive to put a halt on the sale and smuggling of illicit liquor in Uttar Pradesh, almost 18,379 bootleggers have been arrested, of which 1,729 sent to jail.

According to administrative sources, in the current financial year, the excise department conducted a raid at 42,000 places and seized 3,23,457 boxes of country liquor, 50,676 litres of hooch, 4,314 litre Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) and 24 vehicles.
