17 school students in hospital for suspected cholera
Pudukkottai, Tamil Nadu, Aug 19 (UNI) As many as 17 inmates of a private missionary school were admitted to the government headquarters hospital here today with symptoms of cholera.
Official sources said a section of inmates of the Sacred Heart Higher Secondary School Hostel at Usilampatti suffered from vomiting and diarrhoea and were rushed to the hospital.
The sources said already about 40 people from different parts of the district had been admitted to the hospital with similar complaints.
Public Health Department sources here said water contamination was suspected to have caused the problem. Water samples had been sent for clinical analysis.
All preventive measures had already been taken in the entire district to prevent such incidents.
