XLRI signs MoU with AB Freeman School, Tulane University

Jamshedpur, Aug 18 (UNI) A MoU was signed between the AB Freeman School of Business, Tulane University, US and Xavier Labour Relations Institute (XLRI), Jamshedpur, to initiate an exchange programme between the two schools.

XLRI sources here today said the Memorandum of Understanding, which was signed yesterday, included an exchange not only of students, but also of faculty.

Faculties of both the schools would go to the other campus and teach various courses.

Also in the pipeline was an arrangement whereby AB Freeman faculty would conduct courses as per XLRI's Management Development Program for working executives.

They would also come together to conduct joint Management Development Programs at XLRI's centres at Dubai and Singapore.

XLRI would also contribute to and gain experience from the Faculty Development Program at the AB Freeman School.

As part of the exchange programme, students from XLRI would spend a semester at the AB Freeman School of Business and vice versa.

Students of XLRI's General Management Program were expected to visit Tulane this year as part of the international exposure component in their programme, for which the expenses would be borne by the institute.

Keeping in mind AB Freeman faculty's expertise in the field of finance, the two institutes had also planned to conduct joint Master's programmes in finance and strategy.

Tulane University Dean Dr Angelo DeNisi and Vice-Dean and head of International Programs Dr John Trapani visited Jamshedpur to work out all the required arrangements and modalities.

Dr Arup Varma, an alumnus of XLRI and Professor at Loyola University, Chicago, facilitated the entire process.

Tulane University has been imparting education in business for almost a century and the school of business was one of the first 15 business schools to be recognised in the US, sources said.
