Woman-daughter burnt alive for dowry

Pratapgarh, Aug 18 (UNI) A woman and her toddler were allegedly burnt to death for dowry in Maheshganj area of the district.

The victim Suman was married to Amritlal and was constantly harassed for dowry, police today said.

When Suman's family failed to meet the dowry demands for a motorcycle and cash, she along with her two-year-old child was burnt to death.

The bodies were recovered inside their house yesterday morning.

Meanwhile, Suman's father had registered a case against her in-laws and the bodies were sent for autopsy.
