UP lawyers' agitation against colleague's abduction
Mau/Allahabad, Aug 18 (UNI) Lawyers in Uttar Pradesh today boycotted work to protest the abduction of their colleague in Mau district.
Talking to UNI at Mau, UP Bar Council president Amarendra Singh said at the council's August 17 meeting, a proposal was passed that if Vishva Prakash Srivastava was not rescued soon, the state lawyers would observe the following day as 'Virodh Divas' (Protest Day).
On call of the Bar Council, the court work across the state came to a standstill.
Allahabad High Court lawyers also boycotted work, following which no proceedings could take place.
On August 8, masked men had kidnapped Mr Srivastava, while he was was on way to court.
