Tough guidelines for landlords, property dealers in UP

Lucknow, Aug 18 (UNI) Now it is incumbent upon landlords and property dealers in Uttar Pradesh to verify the antecedents of their tenants before letting their properties out.

Uttar Pradesh DGP Vikram Singh today issued guidelines to all the IGs, DIGs, SSPs and district police chiefs in this regard.

Mr Singh noted several landlords and property leaders in the state had in the past faced problems, following illegal activities of their tenants.

''Verification of antecedents is necessary. Police needs to spread awareness in this regard. Before letting out the property, they must take into account either the election photo identity card issued by the Election Commission, ration card, driving licence, PAN card or telphone/electricity bill,'' he added.

The DGP said the verification could also be done with help of the local police.
