Stir called off after minister assures to repair NH 39

Imphal, Aug 18 (UNI) The All Naga Students' Association, Manipur (ANSAM) and the Kuki Students' Organisation (KSO) today called off their agitation of blocking National Highway 39 for one week.

Sources here said the ANSAM and KSO decided to suspend their agitation after State Works Minister K Ranjit Singh assured to repair the highway.

The two organisations had also called 24-hour bandh in Manipur yesterday.

The minister said he discussed the matter with the representatives of the two organisations and assured them that the repair work would start soon.

''Heavy rains and floods in Manipur have been disrupting the repair work. However, it will be completed by the end of October,'' the minister assured.
