State Govt committed to provide healthcare at doorstep of people:
New Delhi, Aug 18 (UNI) Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit today said her government was committed to provide healthcare at the doorstep of the people.
In this connection, the state Government has been commissioning number of colony hospitals, which are being linked to major super specialty hospitals in the city, Ms Dikshit said after inaugurating the new building of Bulaki Dass MCD Polyclinic at Shahdara.
Constructed with an amount of Rs 2.5 crore released by the Trans Yamuna Development Board, the Polyclinic, earlier known as Shahdara Civil Hospital which was first established more than 100 years ago in a building donated by Vaid Bulaki Dass.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister exhorted the MCD to undertake proper upkeep and maintenance of the newly developed Polyclinic to enable it to provide best healthcare to the local residents.
Speaking at the function, where local MP Sandeep Dikshit, local MLA and Trans Yamuna Development Board Dr Narendra Nath and Delhi Mayor Aarti Mehra were also present, the Chief Minister said her Government has been providing topmost priority to the development of Trans Yamuna area.
Ms Dikshit said 13 new flyovers being constructed in East Delhi would facilitate smooth flow of traffic. Trans - Yamuna area was first in Delhi to be connected with modern, fast, pollution-free, airconditioned Delhi Metro service which is being extended to different parts of the area and U.P. including NOIDA.
In this context, she said the coming up of the Commonwealth Games Main Village in East Delhi would provide an excellent opportunity of economic and well planned growth.
The hosting of Commonwealth Games in Delhi would be most beneficial to the Trans Yamuna area and would change the entire scenario. A campus of Guru Gobind Singh I.P. University is also coming up in East Delhi which would open and enhance sphere of higher education. Apart from this, a number of new well-equipped hospitals including Chacha Nehru super specialty paediatric hospital have come up in East Delhi.
Underlining importance of health, education, environment, transport, road and sanitation, the Chief Minister said despite increase in population in Delhi, her Government has strived hard to make Delhi a better city during the last eight years.
