Punjab to get Rs 2000 crore from Rural Health Mission

Phagwara, August 18 (UNI) National Rural Health Mission has sanctioned Rs 2000 crore to improve health services in Punjab and Rs 150 crores had been received by the state government from this amount, Punjab Health Minister Prof Lakshmi Kanta Chawla said here today.

While talking with news persons here today, she said the state government will promote Ayurvedic medicines and will organise "Health Melas" in the villages soon.

A qualified Ayurvedic Doctor would soon be appointed of Ayurvedic Department, which was having a director from Allopathic side till now.

The minister said that health department was now initiating a state-level compaign against the use and illegal sale of the drugs.

She said vacancies in the posts of Drug Inspectors and Medical Officers would soon be filled to accelerate the compaign.

Prof Chawla said three Trauma Centres would soon be set up at Amritsar, Jalandhar and Pathankot and Mobile Health Care vans were being introduced to help the victims of road mishaps.
